Akin is a registered Civil Engineer with about 20years post-university cognate experience mostly in the downstream Oil & Gas, (construction and Project Management, Operations & Process development), engineering consulting (business strategy, innovation, marketing and HR training) and banking (Renewable Energy, business strategy and electric mobility) industries.
He holds a Masters degree in water and environmental engineering(2007) from the University of Lagos and an MBA from the Prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.(2018)
In 2018, Akin completed the Senior Management Program (SMP) at the Lagos Business School, Lekki. He is a member of the chartered Institute of transport administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), Nigeria society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for the regulation of engineering in Nigeria. (COREN).
Akin is credited as part of the team for transforming the retail network/footprint in the downstream oil and gas with cost-effective and innovative project designs and speedy execution. His most notable innovative achievement includes the revolution and redesign of access gates into retail filling stations that have been widely adopted across the country.
Akin is actively involved in thought-leadership and in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles within the transport sector in Nigeria. He led the team that delivered the largest fleet of electric tricycles (120) in Nigeria in 2023 and is set to break that record with the deployment of 5,000 tricycles this year.
In furtherance of his commitment to electrify transportation in Nigeria, Akin led the team that built the first commercially available AC electric charge station in 2023 and has deployed the first commercially available DC charger in September 2024.
Akin is a successful life coach, a mentor, and a leader par excellence. He actively engages in leadership and HR training sessions (formal & informal) and is a volunteer class teacher and counselor to youths, newbies, or wannabe life coaches and distressed youths.
Akin loves to write and has authored 5 published books. He runs a blog (akinakingbogun.com) where he shares his life experiences weekly and has posted online over 350 short fiction stories since 2019.
Akin loves to travel, plays the piano, writes, loves teaching, and is a voracious learner.
